During adolescence, the brain is at its peak in terms of acquiring and retaining new information. However, the areas needed for impulse control and mediating emotional responses are the last to develop and may not reach full maturity until the early 20s, according to a study by the National Institutes of Health. With so many reasons why year-olds shouldn't drive, the public has become interested in changing the laws regarding teen drivers. In fact, a poll taken by USA Today revealed that 61 percent of Americans favored raising the driving age from Politicians at the state level who are trying to pass such bills, however, have an uphill battle in trying to convince their colleagues to sign on to legislation that would raise the driving age.

Most 16 year olds are able to drive safely and should be allowed to. This is another question that will probably always be brought up and debated for many years to come. That being said, I firmly believe that 16 is a good enough age for someone to begin driving. They are still in high school, and it will prepare them for transportation to college.

Everyone is so concerned about the teen driving issue, maybe they should prevent it by addressing the way they teach in drivers ed, teaching kids more about responsibility behind the wheel other than complaining about it will make a bigger difference than anything.

There are definitely cases of teens that have no business driving, but in those cases, that probably remains true for that person as they get older.

At 16, teens are starting to mature more and they are approaching adulthood, so I think that that is a perfect age to start driving. This is why they have tests, written as well as actual driving assessments.

Whether they can drive should be based on those tests, and not their age of 16 years old. Possibly the tests should be stricter, and then fewer 16 year old children would get their licenses and everyone would be happy. It is actually the perfect age. By that time, people should be mature enough to be aware of their surroundings and be able to handle what happens on the road. Raising the minimum age for driving will not help anyone. I believe that you should be able to start driving at 16 because some kids parents are busy and can't take them to school or to places they need to get too.

Some 16 year olds are responsible and pass the drivers test for a reason and other 16 year olds are not responsible and they won't pass the drivers test. I think 16 is a good age to start driving because it helps the parent waste less gas driving them then the teen driving themselves to school. They can also help with getting groceries if the parent has to work more hours.
