Celtic why we are paranoid
Takes quite a bit of pressure off Mowbray as he will it was down to the ref. The ref is in an impossible position now, every single semi contentious decision will be replayed time and time again, and any he gets wrong against us will be brought up every single time this subject rears its head. Any he gets wrong that favour us will simply be brushed under the carpet and instantly forgotten about.
I think we are playing a dangerous game here. Some posters on here would have you believe that there is conscientious effort on all of the SPL refs to penalise us no matter what, thats just plain ridiculous.
What about decisions that have benefitted us this season, do we just ignore them and pretend they never happened. If we are sending a dossier to the SFA detailing decisions we feel have penalised us, you can bet your bottom dollar that someone at ibrox and probably other clubs are preparing similar dossiers on decisions to have went against them, you can be sure that celtic have gained benefit of dodgy decisions this season.
This issue doesnt rear its head when we are winning games and leagues, so this will also be used against us that we only whinge about when we are losing. What about when we done 9 in a row, no complaints, only after when they started to dominate the SPL. I do agree that the standard of refereeing in scotland is absolutely shocking, but that filters down to every team not just us. I fully expect to be slated for this post, and called a hun once again for being reasonable minded but i dont buy the whole conspiracy thing at all.
To my knowladge this was a matter between the sfa and celtic and someone from celtic has taken it upon themselves to leak it out. Quelle surprise. Because things are positive at Celtic. The fans are backing the club. The uptake on season tickets has been good and as with most years the largest spike is likely to be in the final days.
Something Celtic do every year in fact to make way for new signings. Met with a media ban. When it comes to coverage of the Scottish football fallout, the likes of Tom English in particular appeared far too close to the sting when it came to Scot Gardiner, Ann Budge and his constant defence of Hearts actions.
All with a view to allowing the BBC broadcasting access to Ibrox for the season ahead. What better way to curry favour further than put the boot into Celtic.
The media narrative is already out there. The only place Celtic fans will get the real story is on Celtic fans media. There are just too many examples to go into right now but if Robbie wants to leave a legacy then that should be it.
Oh dear Michael. Refereeing could be better but every supporter sees the game through whatever colour glasses their team plays in. They are down to the fact that they have been poor this season and the manager has decided to ship out some pretty decent players Robson, Caldwell,McManus and McDonald for example and bring in loan signings building for the future?
Ah, necessary illusions. I wonder what colour of glasses bigrab wears? Eventually the referee was embarrassed into giving Celtic a penalty for another blatant foul on Zhi this time. Motherwell v Celtic 12 Dec — With Celtic leading ref Charlie Richmond manages to find 5 minutes of injury time but mysteriously cuts this short with Fortune bearing down on the Motherwell goal. Celtic v Rangers 3 Jan — Fortune goal wrongly disallowed Lafferty commits violent late foul on Hinkel. Yellow card given not a red.
Celtic v Falkirk 16 Jan — Artur Boruc bizarrely penalised for handing outside the box when kicking downfield from hand. Free-kick awarded to Falkirk in a dangerous position. Penalty not given for foul on behind on Fortune. Eddie May admits in interview that it was a penalty. Hamilton v Celtic 30 Jan — Rasmussen booked for leaving the field of play after scoring.
Technically a correct decision but a rule that is not applied to any other SPL team, most notably in instances involving MacLean of Aberdeen and Lafferty of Rangers. Why it is OK for Rangers to play any other SPL team at Ibrox on the same day is a question not asked by the media or addressed by anyone. Great is truth, but still greater, from a practical point of view, is silence about truth.
By simply not mentioning certain subjects propagandists have influenced opinion much more effectively than they could have done by the most eloquent denunciations, the most compelling of logical rebuttals. The list above could have been compiled around any club at any level. Refs make mistakes and they are human. The bleating of the supporters of the two clubs in Scotland who win nearly everything is a most unedifying sound to those of us outside the OF farrago.
Here is a set of stats that 2 teams can collect. Falkirk vs Celtic — 1 penalty given and missed Motherwell vs Celtic — 1 penalty given and missed — correct decision Celtic vs Hamilton — Disallowed Hamilton goal — replays show handball — correct decision Celtic vs Rangers — tussle between McDonald and Weir — nothing given St Johnstone vs Celtic — PLayer red carded for a trip on Fortune — correct decision Hamilton vs Celtic — One penalty given — missed correct but soft Penalty given against Dunfermline — correct call but why no red card?
Hibs vs Celtic — McGeady sent off for diving — correct but harsh Celtic vs Dundee United — 1 disallowed goal which looked onside and one penalty not given in the last minute by Steve Conroy for clear handball — later Levein admits the player was disappointed not to have caught it. Falrkirk vs Celtic — In the last minute — Disallowed goal to make it — Clearly onside. Motherwell 2 Celtic 3 — Richmond allows 2 penalty claims to go and both were clear cut fouls and handballs At he adds extra minutes when Motherwell are on the attack and then when the ball breaks to Fortune, clean through on goal, he blows for full time.
THAT Dunfermline penalty McGeady given a yellow for kicking the ball away vs Hearts — correct decision technically McGeady booked for kicking the ball awa vs Aberdeen technically correct again but the same referee does not give a second yellow to MacLEan of Aberdeen which would mean red. Zander Diamond kicks Fortune in the Chest in the box — free kick Aberdeen Aberdeen Penalty for handball — correct decision Darren Odea — Second Yellow card — correct decision but the referee fails to send off player for Aberdeen for kicking the ball away Celtic vs Dundee United — Robbie keane scores and gets booked by the referee for leaving the field of play.
Only in Scotland and only against celtic players so it would seem. Same match Sean Dillion wrestles Scott Brown to the deck and kicks out at him while he is on the deck — No referee action but in fairness the ref did not see it — so where was the linesman who could see Boruc outside the area at the same end as this incident during the Falkirk game.
It was clearly in line with him — did he see it or choose to ignore it.
